| NMP Substitution | The NMP (1-methyl-2-pyrrolidone) solvent (CAS 872-50-4) and every preparation with an NMP weight > 5% are to be identified from June 2009 with the « Toxic » hazard symbol and R 61 risk phrase based on European Directives 67/548/EEC and/or 99/45/EC, following the decision of the 31st ATP dated 15th January 2009. As part of Annex VI to the CLP regulation, NMP is currently not taken into account as the preparation of this Annex stopped at the 29th ATP. However, the 1st ATP of Annex VI is under preparation, and incorporates the 30th and 31st ATPs in full. This Annex is due to be published in the second half of 2009, and can be implemented from the 20th day following publication, with 1st December 2010 as the latest mandatory implementation date. Alternatively, it is possible to identify these preparations until December 2010 latest with the GHS 08 hazard pictogram and the H360D (repr. cat. 1B) hazard notice based on ATP 1 of the GHS regulation.
