Many fresh foods wouldn't stay fresh for long without our products. We manufacture a comprehensive line of Functional Additives for the packaging industry backed by a staff of knowledgeable engineers, state-of-the-art laboratories, and testing facilities. Our stabilizers are specified because they provide greater clarity and resistance to water, solvents, and heat. Our impact modifiers are used for clear packaging applications and offer an ideal balance between clarity and crease whitening resistance while imparting excellent impact and oil resistance. We also offer a complete line of functionalized polyolefins used as tie layers in multilayer packaging.

The excellent bonding properties and low glass transition temperatures of certain Norsocryl® Acrylic Monomers (e.g. Norsocryl® 2-Ethylhexyl Acrylate) makes them key raw ingredients used in the manufacture of pressure sensitive adhesives for packaging labels. In addition, our monomers are also used in the production of inks.
Luperox® JWEB50 is a multi-functional initiator designed to enhance the productivity and/or the properties of polystyrene. Our organic peroxides provide chemical reactions that convert styrene into polystyrene -- they initiate the polymerization reaction to form the plastic. The plastics produced using Luperox® initiators touch every part of our lives.
Arkema's functional polymers, Kynar® and Kynar Flex® Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) , Orgalloy® Resins, and Pebax® Resins are used in many high performance film and packaging applications:
  • Chemical barriers
  • Moisture and vapor barriers
  • Hot melt films and webs
  • Automotive trims
  • Breathable films
  • Coextruded films, sheets and bottles
With their excellent adhesive properties,Orevac™ Resins are used in the production of multi-layer structures that combine the performance of a polyolefin (mechanical resistance, sealing or water barrier properties) with that of an oxygen barrier material such as polyamide or Soarnol® EVOH, a product that is highly prized in the packaging industry. Lotryl™ Resins and Lotader® Resins are often used as polyolefin sealing layers.

Films are used for vacuum-pack bags (meats, prepared foods, fish, cheese, coffee, etc.), cooking bags (ham), sachets for sauces (mustard, ketchup, etc.) and for medical bags ("parenteral" technique). Sheets are used to produce small jars for fruit purées, and thermoformed trays to package salads, prepared foods and fresh pasta.
Multi-layer bottles using Orevac™ Resins as tie-layer are ideal for the packaging of fruit juices, vitamin-enriched milk, chemical products and pesticides.
Arkema Functional Additives bring benefits to both rigid and flexible PVC packaging. For rigid PVC packaging, Clearstrength® MBS impact modifiers improve impact strength and Plastistrength® process aids improve processing in operations such as colendering and blow molding. For flexible PVC, Vikoflex® epoxy plasticizers offer superior compatibilization and stabilization performance.
