Lotryl™ resins are copolymers of ethylene and an acrylic derivative. The Lotryl™ product line is split into three product families according to the type of acrylic derivative:
Lotryl™ EBA: ethylene-butyl acrylate copolymer (EBA copolymer)
Lotryl™ EMA: ethylene-methyl acrylate copolymer (EMA copolymer)
Lotryl™ EH: ethylene-2-ethyl hexyl acrylate copolymer (E-EH copolymer) Lotryl Grades & Properties
Lotryl™ resins have the following important properties:
- Processability
- Good thermal stability and easily extrude over a wide range of temperatures up to 300°C.
- High melt strength and low necking because they are produced in an autoclave reactor.
- The high filler acceptance of Lotryl™ resins makes possible the processing of high additive concentration compounds.
- Adhesion to many substrates such as: polyethylene, polystyrene, polypropylene and OPP.
- Broad Chemical Resistance
- Elastic Properties
- Consistency at low temperature
- Good mechanical properties and flexibility
- Resistance to fatigue and crazing
- Dynamometric properties - elongation at break
- Easy Welding – thermal and high frequencies
Lotryl™ resins have been successfully used in the plastics industry because of their processability and compatibility with other polymers. These qualities make them suitable for many applications such as cable manufacturing, master batches, compounds and thermoplastics modifiers, and multi-layer films for packaging.
Lotryl
Copolymers are Intended for the Following Applications:
Lotryl™ resins can be used in combination with Lotader® resins as impact modifiers for polyamide, polyester, and polypropylene allowing for customization of the impact resistance and melt fluidity of the final compound.
Lotryl™ 35BA40 and Lotader® AX8900 resins are used as an impact modifier for PBT resins.
Lotryl™ 29MA03 and Lotader 4700 resins are used to toughen polyamide compounds.

Hot Melt Adhesives
Lotryl™ EBA and the newest Lotryl ™ EH resins have been developed for the hot melt industry. Their thermal stability and flexibility at low temperature make them a good choice in adhesives for deep freeze packaging.
Due to their high fluidity, Lotryl ™ EH resins are well suited for hot melt formulations applied at low temperatures. Learn more about our newest Lotryl EH grade resins:
Halogen Free Flame Retardant (HFFR) Compounds
Cable insulation used in buildings, automobiles and power networks are increasingly required to use halogen free flame-retardants. Lotryl™ resins accept high loadings of flame retardant additives such as Mg (OH2)and Al(OH)3 The high thermal stability of Lotryl ™ resins make them well suited for high throughput and elevated temperature processing. Lotryl ™ resins are readily cross-linked by peroxides, silane or E-beam when high temperature resistance is needed.

Sound Dampening and foams
Safety and comfort are key attributes for the automotive industry. Noise reduction is a major automotive industry feature. Many different sound insulation systems have been developed using Lotryl ™ copolymers to improve the performance of expandable dampening sheets and injected foamed obstructers.
Films
Gloves made of Lotryl ™ films have good tactile characteristics and provide good finger sensitivity. Lotryl ™ films offer a high seal strength to minimize infection risk and anti-blocking to allow for easy opening.
Construction
Materials for flooring application that are halogen free, flame retardant, low smoke and non-toxic are increasingly in demand, this is forcing the development of PVC compound alternatives. The high polarity of Lotryl™ resins allows high filler acceptance of flame and smoke retardants such as Mg(OH)2 and Al(OH)3, making them choice materials in developing HFFR compounds.
Lotryl ™ resins are compatible and easily dispersed in asphalts. Lotryl ™ resins dramatically improve the elastic behavior for better rutting resistance, fatigue performance and ageing resistance of the asphalt. Lotryl ™ resins enhance the cohesion between binders and aggregates for longer asphalt layer life.
