Impact Strength of Rilsan® Polyamides

Rilsan® polyamides demonstrate strong impact resistance at low temperatures as well as at room temperatures, with Rilsan® PA 11 distinctly stronger than PA 12. In fact, in Charpy notched impact tests at -30ºC, Rilsan® PA 11 is twice as resilient as PA 12. Its fragile/ductile transition is approximately 35ºC, versus approximately 50ºC for PA 12. This benefit is seen in plasticized products as well. Glass transition temperatures are similar for Rilsan® PA 11 and PA 12.  The performance advantage of Rilsan® PA 11 is gained through finer crystal structure.
