Certincoat® Glass Coatings Transparent Conductive Oxides for the Photovoltaics Market

Arkema Inc. has your solution for TCO chemistry and deposition equipment.

Chemistry.  Arkema offers organotin chemistry as transparent conductive oxides (TCO) for thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules.  The coatings are deposited onto glass via Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition (APCVD).

Arkema's commercial products include both butyl and methyl tins.  Arkema products can be doped in order to enhance the conductivity of the coating for market needs.

Arkema manufactures in both USA and Europe.  Butyl type tin oxides can be sourced in both manufacturing regions while methytins are sourced out of the USA.

Equipment.  Arkema also provides CVD coating systems for glass manufacturing on and off float-lines (What is CVD?).  The production of TCO coated glass products with the Certincoat® System is an efficient way to increase your product's value.  Learn more about Certincoat® On-Line CVD Technology...

Solutions.   Arkema is more than just a chemical supplier.  We can offer the blueprints to a bright new future.  Our specialized researchers with proven experience in coatings development actively develop appropriate solutions for market needs.

Our expertise in applications, deposition chemistry, coatings characterization, and even design of an entire system, can provide the leverage necessary in an increasingly competitive market.   Arkema’s Glass Coatings scientists, using state-of-the-art equipment located at our R&D facility in King of Prussia, PA, utilizes several small-scale CVD coaters to create coated-glass samples and develop new processes and chemistries for TCO’s.  The laboratory coating systems are designed to enable deposition using various chemicals and coating conditions to achieve the performance needed for TCO applications.  Our coating systems are designed to simulate conditions encountered on line, such as the movement of the substrate in a continuous process, to better assure successful transfer to online equipment.

Additionally, our analytical capabilities help us better understand TCO properties.  AFM, chemical analysis and other techniques can be utilized to identify certain TCO properties.  Other forms of analytics available include conductivity/resistivity (4-point probe measurement; hall effect/seebeck effect), haze testing, optical characterization (UV/Vis/NIR specto; haze, ellipsometry), and film structure (XRD, SEM, surface profilometry, AFM).
