Focus on Performance and ValueWhen it comes to choosing a binder for a specific coating, you'll often be told you should use a latex that is "100% this" or "100% that." Does it really matter? At Arkema Coating Resins we think "100%" only matters when it is used as part of the phrase "100% effective." That's because what you really need is a binder that will meet the needs of both you and your customer. And that's where the combination of value and performance found in Arkema Coating Resins products comes in. NEOCAR Latex 2535- A great exampleNEOCAR™ Latex 2535, a latex that incorporates vinyl versatate, is a good example of performance and value in one product. Coatings based on this latex recently completed a 10-year exterior exposure regimen on our North Carolina test fence to compare performance against all-acrylic coatings. The results show that coatings based on NEOCAR™Latex 2535 outperformed 100% acrylic systems in a number of important performance properties, including efflorescence and grain cracking, particularly at higher pigment-to-binder ratios. That level of performance is not surprising to us, since latexes containing vinyl versatate have a history of 30+ years of excellent exterior architectural coating performance in Western Europe. The branched ester technology that is the basis for NEOCAR™ latexes is recognized as a high value alternative to all-acrylic platforms for use in coatings for both masonry and wood.
Combine test fence performance, the ability to formulate at higher P/B ratios and the versatility for exterior applications over cementitious or unstable wood substrates and you'll see why we think NEOCAR™ Latex 2535 is a great choice to help you meet your customer's needs. It is a "100% effective" solution from Arkema Coating Resins.
